Citi Pharma sets up joint venture with Chinese firm

Citi Pharma Limited, the leading manufacturer of Paracetamol in Pakistan, has announced its venture into a joint partnership with a renowned Chinese firm. The objective is to locally produce 30 ingredients for medicines, aiming to reduce imports by approximately Rs10-15 billion annually.
The company plans to establish a new production line, with an estimated investment ranging from Rs15-20 billion, in collaboration with Hangzhou Newsea Technology Co Ltd. Commercial production of these pharmaceutical ingredients is expected to commence within the next 12-18 months, as projected by a local research firm.
Under the legal structure of Etaci Limited, Citi Pharma Limited will retain a controlling interest of 65%, with Hangzhou Newsea Technology Co holding the remaining 35%. This collaboration aims to decrease reliance on imported products, thus enhancing cost efficiency, supply chain resilience, and reducing the import bill.
This collaboration brings together Citi Pharma Limited’s API manufacturing proficiency with Hangzhou Newsea Technology Co Ltd’s technological capabilities, fostering innovation and efficiency in API production.

By leveraging Trina Solar’s cutting-edge solar panel technology and Zi Solar’s expertise in delivering turnkey solar solutions, the companies are poised to accelerate solar energy adoption nationwide.
Moreover, the deployment of 120 MW of solar energy is expected to have significant environmental benefits, generating 175 GWh of energy per year and resulting in carbon savings of approximately 177,425 tons annually.

ECC approves increase in wheat procurement target for Passco
ECC批准提高Passco的小麦采购目标
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Tuesday gave approval to increase the wheat procurement target for PASSCO from 1.40 to 1.80 MMT along with the required Cash Credit Limit for the purchase of additional quantity.
The ECC also approved the proposal for import of 200,000 MTs of urea fertiliser to meet the requirements for Kharif 2024 as proposed by Ministry of Industries & Production. The Ministry was also directed to continuously assess the demand & supply situation of urea and suggest appropriate measures to the ECC in a timely manner. ECC also gave go-ahead to Ministry of Industries & Production’s request for the disbursement of salaries of PSM workers and directed the Ministry to present a detailed plan for the future use of the asset alongwith timelines.
ECC also allowed Power Division’s request for release of budgeted expenditures to clear the arrears of tariff differential subsidy Rs. 70 billion for KE and Rs 55 billion for AJK. This would help ease the liquidity requirements of the power sector.
