Pakistan’s national oil company signs agreement with Chinese firm
周二下午,巴基斯坦石油天然气开发公司(OGDCL)与中国石油工程建设公司(CCDC)签署了一份谅解备忘录(MoU)。该协议旨在开发巴基斯坦的页岩气和致密气潜力,并通过本土解决方案满足该国的能源需求。
据一份新闻声明称,OGDCL 执行董事(生产)Mumtaz Ali Soomro 和 CCDC 副总裁张志东在西安第八届丝绸之路国际博览会暨中国东西部合作投资贸易洽谈会期间签署了谅解备忘录。
中国政府特别邀请巴基斯坦作为荣誉国出席此次活动。巴基斯坦联邦能源部长(石油部)穆萨迪克-马利克博士(Dr Musadik Malik)和巴基斯坦驻华大使哈利勒-哈什米(Khalil Hashmi)出席了签字仪式。
马利克部长对中方邀请巴基斯坦作为荣誉国参加此次活动表示感谢。他表示,此次合作将加强两国在能源领域的联系,实现互利共赢。
Pakistan’s Oil & Gas Development Company (OGDCL) on Tuesday afternoon signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation (CCDC), a major player in drilling and upstream oil field services in China. The agreement aims to develop shale and tight gas potential in Pakistan and address the country’s energy needs through indigenous solutions.
The MoU was signed by OGDCL’s executive director (Production), Mumtaz Ali Soomro, and CCDC’s vice president, Zhang Zhidong, during the 8th Silk Road International Exposition and Investment and Trade Forum for Cooperation Between East and West China in Xi’an, according to a press statement.
The government of China has specially invited Pakistan to attend the event as the Country of Honor. The signing ceremony was attended by the Federal Minister for Energy (Petroleum Division), Dr Musadik Malik, and the Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Khalil Hashmi.
The Minister expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for hosting Pakistan as the Country of Honor at the event. He said that this cooperation would strengthen ties in the energy sector for the mutual benefit of both nations.

China has agreed to assist Pakistan in completing four major projects in the transportation and communications sectors.
Minister for Privatisation and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan discussed this collaboration with China’s Minister for Transport Li Xiapeng in Beijing on Tuesday, who expressed keen interest in joint ventures and working together on these important projects.
According to the details, Pakistan and China will work together for the completion of ML-1, M-6 and M-9 projects while the second phase of Karakoram Highway (KKH) and the construction of Kaghan-Naran, Jhal Khand, Babusar Top and Tunnel till KKH will be constructed.
Mr Aleem arrived in Beijing to attend the International Transport Conference on Wednesday.
Public-private partnerships and other financial modalities were not just discussed, but a strong commitment was made to ensure their success. It was emphasised that the missing links to CPEC projects, including the motorway from Sukkur to Hyderabad and Karachi, will be completed.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong called on Pakistan Muslim League-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in Lahore on Wednesday.
They discussed ways to enhance cooperation in technology, business and investment.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif proposed establishing a special "China Economic Zone" to encourage Chinese investment.
She said various incentives will be offered to investors.
She also expressed her desire to utilize China's expertise in dairy production and agriculture.
The Chinese Ambassador proposed expanding cultivation of hybrid seed in Punjab and offered to train one thousand Pakistani farmers in modern farming techniques and water-efficient practices.
